Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound understanding of the public agencies involved in economic development in Scotland.

Responsible To:  Operations Manager

Main Purpose of the Job:  

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the management team in identifying opportunities for business development and in particular the writing and submission of tender opportunities. The role will also require the development of a library of past tender and business opportunities library. Specifically the post holder will be required to assist LESL to acquire new customers and sell additional products or services to our existing customers; this will be achieved by the careful monitoring and assessment of framework and contract opportunities across the UK via Public Contract Scotland and the Crown Office as well as in the private sector.

Main Duties:

The role of the Business Development Executive is to assist LESL to maximise income by scanning the business environment for appropriate business development opportunities and to assist in the writing and preparation and submission of bids and pitches. The position will bring with it some responsibility for marketing LESL. The list below details specific tasks but other tasks may be requested as the candidate develops into the role.

  • Set up searches on procurement hubs and assess all opportunities
  • Identify and recommend other channels for business opportunities
  • Appraise the Management Team of appropriate opportunities
  • Write and submit tender bids
  • Participate in pitches and presentations for business opportunities where appropriate and required by the Management Team
  • Create and maintain a Business Development Library of submissions and support material
  • Participate in networking and promoting the services and  reputation of LESL
  • Assist in the marketing of LESL when required.
